CHOCOLATE Covered Pretzels & Popcorn

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! We’ve merged our 2 favorite holiday treats, for those who love salty & sweet! They’re easy to make, and fun to share. Even toddlers can get in on the action. Not much healthy here, but you can get gluten-free pretzels and organic chocolate to help cut calories and chemicals. So gather up your friends, and have a blast making these together!

What you’ll need (popcorn)-
1 cup popping corn kernels
1 cup melted white chocolate
1 cup melted milk chocolate
1 cup small pretzels or pretzel pieces
1.5 cups chex mix (rice or corn
1.5 cups mini M&Ms
2 – 3 large candy canes smashed to salt-sized bits (by hand in a plastic bag or in a food processor)
1 Tablespoon canola oil
Popcorn maker or large pot with lid
Large bowl
Wax paper

What you’ll need (pretzels)-
1 cup melted white chocolate
1 cup melted milk chocolate
Large pretzel rods
Decorations: sprinkles, M&Ms, smashed candy canes, etc.
Wax paper
Spatula

Let’s get cookin’… Popcorn First…

**Adults ONLY – please do not let your children handle a hot pot or popcorn maker.
Step 1: Pop the corn on the stove or in the popcorn maker using the tablespoon of oil – cover pot with the lid – don’t burn!
Step 2: Melt the chocolate in two separate pyrex bowls in the microwave – 45 – 60 seconds then stir.
Step 3: Place popped popcorn in the bowl and coat with white chocolate. Add Chex, pretzels and M&M’s.
Step 4: Pour out on to wax paper. Drizzle melted milk chocolate over and mix lightly.
Step 5: Sprinkle with ‘candy cane salt’ until covered well. Let cool.
Step 6: Once cooled, enjoy!… or put some into Ziploc bags and share with friends!

Now let’s do the Pretzels!

Step 1: Melt the chocolate in two separate pyrex bowls in the microwave – 45 – 60 seconds then stir.
Step 2: Use spatula to coat the top 3/4’s of the pretzel rod with chocolate.
Step 3: Decorate with M&M’s, sprinkles, etc. and lay down on the wax paper. **You can roll the pretzel rods in the sprinkles, or sprinkle them on – just put wax paper down so you don’t make a mess!
Step 4: Once cooled, enjoy!… or put some into Ziploc bags and share with friends!
