Cocoa Banana Milk Shakes

Did you know that raw cacao has the most antioxidant power of any plant, vegetable or fruit? That was new news to me! Now I wouldn’t throw out your blueberries or acai just yet. Raw cacao is not the same as processed cocoa, but it does taste the similar. It also gives you energy, more so than a cup of coffee! So a little goes a long way. Please make this recipe in moderation… like when your little one needs an energy boost to get through tedious homework, or if they need a special treat to help them through a rough time :)

This recipe has 3 steps and takes about 10 minutes total to make! Enjoy!


Ingredients you’ll need:

  • ¼ Cup ground flax seed
  • 2 Tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • 1 Very large frozen banana (or 2 small) – *Cut it up before freezing it to make it easier to blend
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 cup milk (use coconut milk for the best flavor)
  • 2 Ice cubes

Tools you’ll need:

  • Blender
  • Cup with straw
  • Measuring cups & spoons

Let’s get cookin':

Step 1: ADULT ONLY: prep the blender. No little hands should handle a blade!

Step 2: Add all ingredients into blender, cover and blend until totally mixed and frothy.

Step 3: Pour into cup and enjoy!
