Lemonade Stand!!

Summer is here! Cooking With Kiddies brought refreshing lemonade to the streets of Harrison to help cool down our neighborhood in a delicious and nutritious way!

You can make you’re own lemonade stand at home. Here’s how we did it:

First you need lemonade. Here is our favorite recipe.

Mama’s Lemonade (Double batch – 1/4 of the sugar in store bought)

Ingredients:

  • 4 quarts of water (16 cups)
  • 12 lemons juiced
  • 1 cup organic cane sugar
  • 1 cup honey or brown rice syrup
  • 1 teaspoon stevia

Tools Needed:

  • 2 large pitchers (or one large carafe)
  • Large sauce pot
  • Wooden spoon
  • Juicer
  • Child safe knives

Be careful with little hands around hot surfaces, like the stove – and sharp objects, like the juicer blade!

Step 1:  Mix sugar, honey/rice syrup and 1 quart of water in the sauce pot over medium heat (ADULT ONLY) until ingredients are completely dissolved. Remove from heat, stir in Stevia and let cool.

Step 2: In a hand/electric juicer, juice all of the lemons. Remove seeds.

Step 3: Mix the rest of the water, sugar water and lemon juice in the pitchers. Refrigerate for at least an hour and at most a week :)

Now you need a good sign. Use markers, stickers and other decorations to make a sign. List what you’re selling, how much it is, and make sure the letters are big enough to read from far away!

Next you need to set up a table with your lemonade (an in our case, cookies too). Make sure you have cups, napkins and change!

Use bubbles to attract attention to your lemonade stand. Make sure you thank your customers, and wish them a “Happy and Healthy Day!”
